Technical Support
Location: Student Services,
Room 2313
Technical Support staff provides support for the most
complex base of software used by EIU's administrative and academic computing
communities. The systems the Technical Support professionals maintain
include operating systems (such as Unix, OS/390, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows
2000), online systems (such as CICS, Roscoe), large databases (such as
DataCom DB, Oracle and Microsoft SQL), and network access software (such
as VTAM, TCP/IP). The work of Technical Support staff allows other computer
professionals on campus to accomplish their jobs. Technical Support provides
the primary administrative support for more than five dozen network attached
servers on campus.
Technical Knowledge:
Mainframe: OS/390, CA-ROSCOE, ROSCOE RPF, PANVALET,
TLMS, COBOL for OS/390, MetaCOBOLl+, PL1, RPG, ASSEMBLER, TSO, CICS, CrossPlex,
JCL, BDAM Files, VSAM Files, SYNCSORT, IDCAMS, FDR/ABR, SAS, FOCUS, IDEAL,
DATACOM/DB, SDF II, CA-INTERTEST, XEROX IPP printing development tools,
4th Generation Languages, and Ad-Hoc Query Tools.
Network: Internet Services, EtherNet, Token Ring, TCP/IP,
NFS, Microsoft NT Server, Microsoft 2000 Server.
