Your E-mail Account
Eastern's e-mail system, known as PantherMail, is the official communications channel for all academic and university notices. Please check it regularly.
Campus e-mail accounts are automatically created for EIU employees and students upon processing their information either with Human Resources with the Student Records Office. If you are a not an EIU employee or student and need access to EIU resources, please contact Cathy Ashmore at cjashmore@eiu.edu or via phone at 217-581-7604 for instructions on gaining access.
What Is My E-mail Address?
Your e-mail address is your NetID@eiu.edu. To see your e-mail address and the address for your personal web site, go to EIU's online directory. Once you key in your name, you should see your information in the right hand column.
Accessing Your PantherMail
The easiest way to view your PantherMail is via the secure Web interface located at: www.eiu.edu/panthermail. All you need is a computer with an Internet connection and a Web browser. No configuration is necessary. Simply enter your NetID and password in the spaces provided in order to get started.
Using A Desktop Mail Client To Access Your PantherMail
You can also access your PantherMail using mail client software such as Outlook or Thunderbird. While configuring your mail client to access your PantherMail, you will need to provide some basic information:
- E-mail Address: yourNetID@eiu.edu
- User Name: yourNetID
- Incoming Mail Server:
- For POP mail: pop.eiu.edu
- For IMAP mail: imap.eiu.edu
