Information Technology Services will distribute its updated Employee Technology Guide and Student Technology Guide on campus again this year.

The faculty/staff manual will be delivered to university offices prior to the beginning of the Fall Semester, which starts  Aug. 24. The guide also is made available to new employees during their orientation sessions.

The student booklet will be placed in residence hall rooms prior to student move-in, and copies also will be distributed by ITS employees outside of Textbook Rental Aug. 20-22 before to the start of classes.

This year’s publications mark the fourth edition of the student guide and the third version of the employee booklet.

Both are users’ manuals for technology resources at Eastern. Although each is tailored to its specific audience, both guides contain helpful information about the use of PantherMail, the campus e-mail system; how to reset passwords on P-Synch; computer security and on-line safety; academic computing; university computer policies; the wireless network and many other topics to help employees in the performance of their jobs and students in their academic experience.

The guides are intended to be “a ready reference for many of the campus computing and networking facilities available to you,” wrote Assistant Vice President for Information Technology Chat Chatterji in his foreword in the guides.  “As in previous years, there are current IT-related issues that you should continue to be aware of, and these are covered inside.”
