Software

The ITS Software Portal provides central access to free, site-licensed, and individually licensed software available to EIU employees and students. Through this site, you can download software for your personal use or for your department's use.

Licensed Software

In order to download ITS licensed software, such as Microsoft products, Symantec Anti-Virus and the ITS VPN Client, please visit the ITS Licensed Software Downloads page.

Free Software

ITS recommends the use of a number of free software products.

You will need an Anti Trackware for your computer to protect your computer or network free of compromising and intrusive threats to your privacy:

• Super Anti-Spyware
• Malwarebytes
• CCLEANER

You will need an Archive Software if you are working with large files that need Compression/ Expansion/ Zip/ Unzip. The following Archive Software are available to download:

• StuffIt for Windows ( from Allume Systems )
• StuffIt for Macintosh ( from Allume Systems )
• WinZip ( from WinZip )

EIU offers Symantec Anti-Virus for free to EIU employees and students You will need an AntiVirus Software for your computer if you want to protect your computer from viruses. The following AntiVirus Software are available to download:

• Symantec Anti-Virus for Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7
• Symantec Anti-Virus Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 (64 Bit Edition)
  
• Symantec Anti-Virus for MAC

You will need a Web Browser (Internet Client) if you want to navigate on the internet. The following Browsers are available to download:

• Firefox
• Internet Explorer (from Microsoft )
• Opera
  

You will need an E-Mail Client to read and send messages over the internet. The following E-mail clients are available for download:

• Thunderbird

EIU's VPN (Virtual Private Network) software creates a secure tunnel between the EIU campus systems and a remote location such as your home office or an EIU wireless access point. Data flowing between the two points is encrypted, allowing the two different sites to be connected together over Internet in save and secure way.

• MAC - v4.9.01.0080 supports OS X 10.4 and above on both PPC and Intel processors
• MAC - << ONLY OS X 10.3 or OS X 10.2 >> IF you are not sure, check your version! Click on the apple icon in the title bar then select 'About this Mac'.
• Linux - v4.8.02.0030Linux x86 VPN CLI Client tar file. Information and Instructions.

You will need a FTP (File Transfer Program) software if you want to transfer files from one location to another server. The following FTP software are available to download:

• WinSCP (for Windows)
• Fetch Softworks (for Macintosh)
• CuteFTP (for Macintosh)
